SERAS
You are as you have
always been.
Y también eres new.
Tattered secrets and stained colors
your fingers wove into vestments,
donned now into sunlight, frayed edges glittering like gold.
Your muddied bare feet ran,
stumbled, hurried
to stand firm. You keep la tierra vencida between your palms, transforming dust into pearls.
You are both grave and garden.
Your fractured pieces yield new life.
Ferns birthed from deaths outgrown spread like wings behind your back.
You are as you have always been.
Y también eres new.
And should they ask you for your name, responderás que eres
tú.
