OUR ORIGIN STORY
In early 2019 co-founders Mary and A.M. began to meet regularly to write and work together. After months of brainstorming ways to create more space for queer voices within the literary and art spheres, they decided to bust past the barriers and make it happen.
Post aims to follow the urgings of our wise foremother Toni Morrison, knowing that "this is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal."
I am devoted to preserving, promoting, and protecting queer stories as an act of resilience, brilliance, and as a firm stand against the incapacitations of fear. I love work that pushes past the boundaries of what we think of as possible, and depend upon these acts of imaginative survival to light the path forward. For me, Post is a missive from a future we are collectively dreaming to life.
My personal mission is to create, be surrounded by, and completely inundated with queer media, constantly. Post is a needed space for people like me, because we are always looking for places to share our work and find work we relate to. I'm excited to help build and nurture Post--and hope it will be part of a future in which spaces like these are innumerable.
Queer art, for me, is about the infinite possibilities for love and transgression as we reimagine it - every single day. Post feels like just the place to gather those possibilities.
Art sustains me–particularly art that reworks, reimagines, and reconfigures. Queer art is uniquely attuned to breaking molds and destroying norms. Through Post, I hope to help foster a space for queer art to live and thrive.
